Make Sure Your Child Aces It With Boost Education's 11+ Crash Course!

It’s that time of year where students across the UK will be thinking about the 11+ exams that are just under 100 days away. Every year more and more students and parents are looking for advice and support on passing the annual exams that qualify learners for Grammar School.

With this in mind, we’re excited to announce the Boost Education 11+ Crash Course for 2019, which will be available to parents and learners at our Ilford centre. This year will be rather unique from the previous two crash courses held by Boost Education. We’re making this year’s 11+ Crash Course program available to the general public so that non-Boost learners can increase their chances for success through our comprehensive and intensive 2 week crash course.

That’s right. If you’re looking to increase your chances of success, then take advantage of our course that’s been designed to help you pass with flying colours.

What exactly is the 11+ exams?

The 11+ exams are taken by Year 6 pupils in primary schools across England. The exams are a way to qualify learners who are academically suited to attend a grammar school or selective school for Year 7 onwards. It is also known as the ‘Transfer Test’. Scotland and Wales do not hold 11+ exams and Northern Ireland candidates take a separate exam called the Northern Ireland Transfer Test.

Course structure and what is covered

The Boost 11+ crash course was designed to enhance each child’s learning and comprehension of the subjects covered in the exams. The upcoming September 11+ exams include the Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring (CEM) and Consortium of Selective Schools in Essex (CSSE) exam boards, meaning students can expect a different structure, timing rules and complexity to that of the GL exams held prior to the inception of the CEM and CSSE.

CEM exams cover verbal, non-verbal and numerical reasoning. Verbal and numerical reasoning papers are similar to the maths and English papers set by GL. There are two individual CEM exams with both covering English/verbal reasoning and maths/non-verbal reasoning.

CSSE exams are sat only for selected schools in the Essex area and consists of only a Maths and an English paper. Learners will sit through exams at the preferred centre chosen by parents. The English paper is 60 minutes + 10 minutes reading time, and the maths paper is 60 minutes in total.

The GL exam consists of all four 11+ subjects (maths, English, verbal and non-verbal reasoning), and may contain written or multi-choice questions. Tests are usually 45 minutes long. Most GL 11+ exams are either Standard Format or Multiple Choice.

Timing will be of the importance as students will not be afforded the chance to review completed sections once time allotments have been reached. All work material will be provided by Boost Education educators to students and will follow a strict regimen 11+ focused content and iterative testing to ensure come September, everyone who attended our 11+ course will pass with flying colours.

Also, Boost learners do receive material and classes that prepare them well in advance of the 11+ exams throughout the year, the crash course serves to bolster their knowledge and focuses on exam readiness.

Here’s What the Parents Have to Say…

Boost Education has undoubtedly helped my daughter to excel at school, and improved my son's results in a very short time period. The teaching quality is excellent and the atmosphere friendly and focussed. I would recommend Boost wholeheartedly as a great value for money education centre.

Parent at Boost Education Ilford

I would strongly recommend parents to Join Boost. It's very child orientated and learning can be fun. My kids tutor is very friendly, patient and approachable and my kids are very comfortable with her. My younger son says he prefers going to Boost rather than School

Nasima Rahman
Parent at Boost Education Stratford

I was interested in enrolling my daughter to the maths GCSE programme since I felt she was capable of studying this at an earlier age. The tutors and the additional resources have really helped her. The rewards scheme has also motivated both my kids and I love the structure of the programme where they are assessed every month.
